The Newport Coast Elementary School Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing all children at NCE with an exceptional public school education. Directed by a group of parent volunteers, our primary purpose is to fund the cost of staff, programs and supplies not provided by federal, state, school district or PTA budgets.
Why does our school need money?
The State of California has slashed funding to public schools resulting in increased class sizes as well as loss of resources, programs and auxiliary staff.
Our property taxes in Newport Beach are divided evenly among NMUSD schools, based on the number of students in each school. Schools with lower income students automatically qualify for an additional $100,000 -$400,000 of Title One funding (federal grants designed for areas of high poverty). NCE does not qualify for or receive any Title One funding.
